The ME 25E is built for the shop that's outgrown hand-finishing edges. Profile scraping and buffing come standard, and it's the first machine in the Minimax ME lineup that can run HPL.

The Details:
A panel enters at the infeed and travels through glue application, end-cutting, top/bottom trimming, profile scraping, and buffing in sequence, exiting fully finished. EVA hot melt is drawn from the Teflon-coated glue pot and applied to the panel edge by a spreading roller. Edge material feeds from a 730mm-diameter coil holder. Two steel pressure rollers with counterposed conicity, tapered in opposite directions, press against the glued edge. That's a step up from the ME 20's single steel and rubber-coated roller pairing: a flat roller concentrates pressure in the middle of the panel edge and tapers off toward the top and bottom, which is exactly where a thin glue line or an open seam is most likely to show up. The ME 25E's tapered rollers push pressure outward toward both extremities instead, for a tighter bond across the full height of the edge. A copying device tracks the actual panel end through the cutting station, so the 90° trim holds up even with small speed variation, unlike a fixed guillotine cut.
The top/bottom trimming unit profiles the edge with a combined radius/flat cutter at 12,000 RPM (2mm radius standard). From there the panel moves into profile scraping, which removes the fine witness line at the edge-to-panel joint along with any machining marks left by the top/bottom trimming cutters, and then buffing, where two motorized brushes clean and polish the edge. That two-stage finishing process is the mechanical reason this machine needs no hand-finishing pass after the panel comes off the line. If your shop is running enough volume that hand-finishing has become the bottleneck, this is where that time goes back.
Material Limits: The ME 25E runs PVC and ABS in both rolled coil and strip form, and it's rated for HPL edges as well, something the ME 20 can't do at all. HPL bonding requires a primer. The machine can also apply solid wood strip edges up to 5mm, though it doesn't come standard with an automatic strip loading magazine, so wood strips run through the machine without the same hands-off coil feed you get with PVC or ABS. Shops planning to run wood strips regularly should ask about the automatic strip loading device as a factory-order accessory. Like the ME 20, the ME 25E uses flat copying pads on the trimming unit, so it's not the right machine for high-gloss or acrylic panel surfaces; that requires the copy-wheel trimming units on the ME 35ET and above.
Compressed Air: The ME 25E requires a continuous supply at 6.5 bar (approximately 95 PSI). The machine's built-in filter-regulator handles basic filtration, but moisture in the line is a known cause of pneumatic component failure. A refrigerated air dryer or quality desiccant filter upstream of the machine is strongly recommended. Confirm your compressor can maintain 6.5 bar continuously under load before the machine arrives.
Dust Extraction: The ME 25E requires a minimum of 590 CFM. There are two extraction outlets: a 120mm main outlet and a dedicated 60mm outlet for glue pot fumes. Both should be connected; the glue pot outlet in particular keeps fumes from building up around the operator station.
Electrical: The 3-phase 220V version draws approximately 20A, a lighter draw than the single-phase version's 34A. If your shop already has 3-phase service, this is the more economical version to run and typically the straightforward choice. If your shop only has single-phase service, the single-phase version of this machine is also available.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the ME 25E add over the ME 20?
Profile scraping and buffing, both standard equipment on the ME 25E and absent on the ME 20. On the ME 20, edges come off trimmed and clean but typically need a light hand-finishing pass. The ME 25E's scraping and buffing units remove that step entirely, producing a finished edge with no hand-work needed after the panel exits the machine. The ME 25E is also rated for more daily runtime (2 to 3 hours vs. up to 2 hours) and adds HPL capability, which the ME 20 does not have.
Can the ME 25E run HPL edges?
Yes. The ME 25E's end-cutting unit uses a saw blade that tracks the panel end, rather than the fixed guillotine system on the ME 20. That's what makes HPL processing possible. HPL bonding requires a primer. This is a real capability difference from the ME 20, which cannot process HPL at all.
Can the ME 25E apply solid wood edge strips?
Yes, up to 5mm. It's worth knowing the machine doesn't come standard with an automatic strip loading magazine, so wood strips don't feed as hands-off as PVC or ABS coil stock does. If wood strips will be a regular part of your production, ask about the automatic strip loading device, a factory-order accessory that can't be added after purchase.
Is there a version of the ME 25E without the buffing unit?
SCM offers an RC variant that replaces the standard buffing unit with a glue scraping unit, which removes excess glue squeeze-out at the joint rather than polishing the edge. This is a factory-order configuration specified at the time of purchase and can't be changed after the machine ships. Contact OakTree directly if this configuration fits your process better than the standard scraping-and-buffing setup.
Why choose the 3-phase version over single-phase?
The 3-phase 220V version draws approximately 20A, considerably less than the single-phase version's 34A draw. If your shop already has 3-phase service, it's the more economical version to run and the straightforward choice. If your shop only has single-phase power available, the single-phase version of this machine is also available and does not require any electrical upgrade.
Can the ME 25E run high-gloss or acrylic panels?
No. The trimming unit uses flat copying pads that make sliding contact with the panel face, which can mar or haze high-gloss and acrylic surfaces. That capability starts with the ME 35ET, which uses rotating copy discs instead of pads.
How many hours a day can I run the ME 25E?
The ME 25E is rated for 2 to 3 hours of actual operation per day. That's a step up from the ME 20's 2-hour rating and reflects the more robust pressing and trimming components. Shops needing more daily runtime than that, in the 3 to 4 hour range, should look at the ME 35ET.

What glue does the ME 25E use, and does the brand matter?
The ME 25E uses EVA hot melt adhesive at an operating temperature of 190°C (374°F). Different EVA products vary in viscosity, processing temperature, and open time, and a mismatched glue produces bond failures and pot contamination. Jowat 288.60 is the standard recommendation for most applications. Jowat 280.30 is a translucent EVA recommended for light-colored substrates, white MDF, and melamine work where standard EVA's yellow-tan color would show at the glue joint.

What daily maintenance does the ME 25E require?
Daily: scrape the glue pot walls with a wooden stick to remove carbonized buildup. Never use metal tools on the pot interior; they damage the Teflon coating. Blow dust from electrical components periodically. Lubricate the feed track and other specified points per the manufacturer's maintenance schedule.

Optional Installation & Training
If purchased with the machine, the customer places and assembles the machine before an SCM factory-trained technician comes on site to verify alignment, make necessary adjustments, and train the operator. Installation does not cover running electrical service, floor/masonry work, or dust extraction lines.
Installation is not warranty-required for the ME 25E, but strongly recommended for first-time edgebander owners. A technician dials the machine in and walks you through setup and daily maintenance before you're running it on your own.
Warranty
SCM warrants every machine free of defects in workmanship and materials for one (1) year from the date of customer acceptance. Belts, bearings, and common electrical parts carry a six-month warranty. Wearable items and components requiring maintenance in ordinary operation are excluded.
