Similar in construction to the 2436, the 1640 Lathe is extremely robust, yet its style and appearance are reminiscent of the 1224 with the offset bed ways. This combination of brawn and beauty creates a lathe that is totally unique and amazingly versatile.
Most woodturners never use the outboard of their lathe because they would have to buy left hand threaded attachments and learn to turn the opposite way they are accustomed to on the inboard side. Oneway solved this problem by threading the outboard spindle right hand, and providing a motor with reversing capabilities. Thus, the 1640 is a true bowl turning lathe.
All Oneway Lathes feature their patented banjo/tool rest base design, created to solve problems associated with traditional cam-lock bases like deflection. Oneway replaces the regular long cam shaft with a sliding cam assembly. The tool rest is clamped into the tool rest base with a captured non-marking block. This sliding cam clamping mechanism ensures tight clamping and smooth operation.
Also available with a 1.5HP motor.
All Oneway Lathes are backed by a 10-year END-TO-END Warranty. This warranty covers everything: the motor, drive, belt, switches, bearings, electrics, etc.
