The Makita 18V LXT Brushless 2-Piece Combo Kit (model XT297T) gives you two efficient tools for drilling, driving, and fastening: the XPH14Z Hammer Drill, and the XDT20Z Impact Driver. This kit also includes two 18V LXT 5.0Ah batteries, which are compatible with the full range of Makita tools and products.

The 18V LXT Brushless Cordless 1/2” Hammer Driver-Drill (XPH14Z) delivers a full 1,250 in.lbs. of maximum torque for the most demanding drilling and driving applications, and 0-31,500 BPM for faster hammer drilling into masonry materials. It has a more compact and ergonomic design and is 14% shorter than the previous model.

The XPH14Z is powered by a Makita brushless motor for longer run time, increased power and speed, and longer tool life. With a 2-speed transmission (0-550 & 0-2,100 RPM), it can tackle a wide range of drilling, fastening, and hammer drilling applications. Other features include an all-metal 1/2” self-ratcheting chuck for improved bit-gripping strength, L.E.D. lights, and a rubberized soft grip for increased comfort.

Also included is the XDT20Z Impact Driver, which offers 4-speed power selections (0-1,100/ 0-2,100/ 0-3,200/ 0-3,600 RPM & 0-1,100/ 0-2,600/ 0-3,600/ 0-3,800 IPM. The Impact Driver features Assist Mode (A-mode) which helps eliminate "screw cam-out" and "cross threading" by driving at low speed until tightening begins. It also features two Tightening Modes (T-mode) for faster tightening in thick or thin gauge metal that helps prevent damage to the screw or workpiece.

For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls. Star Protection is a communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging, and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18V LXT and Compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the star symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection inside.
