Invis Mx2 is a unique, magnet-driven connector system designed for clean, strong, and invisible joints. With no visible openings, it’s ideal for handrails, table legs, stair treads, shelving, and high-gloss furniture where traditional clamps would leave marks.

The system consists of two parts—one male and one female piece—that connect inside 12mm drilled holes created with the special magnetic drill bit. If you want to use a drill instead of a CNC, the Rasto Drilling Jig (sold separately) helps create these holes and can be clamped onto almost any workpiece shape without measuring or marking. The connectors are then installed in the holes using the screw bit (sold separately).

The Minimag (sold separately) attaches to any standard drill with 1,200 - 1,500 RPM. The rotating magnetic field of the MiniMag/actuator drives the two pieces together just as one cogwheel drives the other. The screw within the male joining element threads itself into the inside thread of the female stud, which is driven by the contact-free magnetic field to ensure a tight connection. Invis joints have a clamping force of up to 550 lbs.

Invis is also easily detachable! Simply reverse the direction of your drill with the MiniMag attached. This disconnects the magnet connection and allows you to take apart the two workpieces, making transportation or adjustments a breeze. Thanks to clear markings, you can easily tell if the Minimag connection is opening or closing.

Installation Instructions

1. Drill the 12mm Invis holes using the Mx2 Rasto Drill Bit. One hole is drilled with the spacer on the bit for the female connector, and the matching hole is drilled without the spacer for the male connector. The drill bit can be used in a CNC, or with a handheld drill when paired with the Rasto Drill Jig.
2. Thread the female connector into the shallower hole using the insertion jig and screw bit. Then use the same screw bit to install the male connector into the deeper hole.
3. Bring the workpieces together so the male and female connectors engage. Attach the MiniMag to your cordless drill, hold it parallel to the joint, and run it over the connector location. The magnetic field activates the internal screw, pulling the joint together with up to approximately 550 lbs. of clamping force. You’ll hear a distinct knocking sound when the connection is fully tightened.
4. To disassemble, simply reverse the drill’s direction and run the MiniMag over the joint again—no visible hardware, no access holes, and no compromise to the finished surface.
