The PX|20 Planer signals an innovative design for Laguna planers. This machine is loaded with ergonomic features to make woodworking safer and more enjoyable.
The ShearTec II cuttherhead comes as standard equipment on PX|20 Planer. The ShearTec II is a 6-row carbide insert cutterhead that produces a superior surface finish on all woods including challenging hardwoods. The ShearTec II knives and fasteners have a T-step design to maximize clamping force on the knives preventing knife cracking and chatter.
The 4-sided carbide insert knives produce a shear cut for flawless results. The ShearTec II cutterhead has deep grooves that make the cutterhead very quiet and improve shaving ejection. The 4-sided knives can be rotated for a new cutting edge without the need for a knife setting jig.

The PX20 has a smaller footprint than my old Jet 15inch planer. Very quiet and powerful. The Sheartec head is great for wild grain, curly maple came out super smooth with zero chips or tear out. The dust collection chute design is not amazing, but it still gets the job done.
The PX 20 Laguna very nice machine leaves an unbelievably smooth finish I like two speeds on the feed and the window for viewing is a nice Plus takes up a minimum amount of floor space I would recommend it
This planer is so quiet and works beautifully. Love it!!
For a 20” planer, this thing has a small foot print. Nothing like it on the market to my knowledge. Digital height readout and is accurate, machine is smooth running and quiet. I mean, really quite. I registered about 78 decibels standing right next to it while running and around 89 while planing. In real life, it sounds about half as loud as my previous straight knife planer. The surface finish on planed material is similar to other helical cutters I’ve used- micro ridges that sand out easily. Straight knives will yield a smoother surface but also suffer from more tear-out where grain changes direction. The fit and finish on the machine is excellent and the design is really a huge step forward.
