The Cantek GT760ARD 30″ Double Surface Planer is a tank of a machine. It features a robust cast-iron body for industrial planing day in and day out. Spiral insert knife cutterheads, a spring-loaded conveyor pin system, and easy knife change/rotation are just a few of the features that set this machine above the competition. The machine frame on the GT760ARD Double Surface Planer is made from industrial cast iron with superior vibration-dampening qualities. Less vibration results in excellent finishes and machine longevity. The dovetail elevation posts are also made of cast iron, and are raised and lowered by threaded screws.

Both the bottom and top spiral knife cutterheads feature six rows of solid carbide inserts. These inserts are the industry-standard size of 30 x 12 x 1.5mm. The knives have slight chamfers in the corners, which produce a smooth and well-blended finish. Changing or rotating the knives is easy thanks to the removable bottom cutterhead. The top cutterhead is also easily accessible by simply removing the dust hood.

The conveyor system features spring-loaded pressure pins that overlap to minimize gaps. Unlike a traditional feed roller, this system is designed to hold the piece firmly but not flatten it. The GT760ARD is also equipped with a solid steel roller, sectional feed roller, and sectional chip breaker. These exist before the top cutterhead and are followed by a solid pressure shoe and rubber field roller, which all work together to provide powerful and precise feeding, even on uneven material.

Feed speed on the GT760ARD Double Surface Planer is simple to dial in using the inverter-mounted adjustment knob. This gives the operator fully variable control from 26 to 80 FPM, making it easy to match the speed to any planing task. The inverter’s digital display shows the exact speed you’ve set, so there’s no guesswork. A swiveling front control panel provides a clear keypad for setting thickness in either inches or millimeters, along with start/stop controls for the top cutterhead, bottom cutterhead, and conveyor system.

An external handwheel next to the infeed bed allows the operator to adjust it manually. This is particularly useful when feeding uneven or rough workpieces. Thickness is displayed on a mechanical digital readout. The feed rollers on the GT760ARD are driven by a spring-tensioned caterpillar feed chain. There is also an auto lubrication system that keeps the spring feed system well-oiled and running up to code.
