OakTree Supply Woodworking Contests

We know that OakTree woodworking customers create some amazing things and from time to time we’ll ask you to submit a project for a contest so we can award some gift cards and take a peek at what you’ve been working on. Whether you make furniture, musical instruments, fine wooden boxes, turn bowls, or do other kinds of fine woodworking we want to help you create the best project you can. And if you need to buy a new Festool joiner, SawStop table saw or a Jet variable speed wood lathe or other woodworking tools to complete your project OakTree Supply has you covered. Keep in mind too that we can always special-order things you need as well. Just let us know. Take a look below for current contests and the winners from past contests.

2019 Favorite Project Contest

We asked to see what our customers had been working on so we could give out a $50 OakTree Gift Card to our favorite entry.
We were blown away by both the number of responses and the quality and beauty of the work. We had a hard time picking just one winner so we decided to give away additional awards!

We're in business to help our customers make their woodworking better. We strive to provide the best tools and supplies so you can take your project to the next level. We're proud that we are able to play a small role in helping our customers complete their projects, learn new techniques, and leave their legacy for future generations. Check out the winning project entries below. Thanks to all who participated.

First Place

Prize: $50 OakTree Gift Card

Artisan: Kevin Vanden Akker
"This guitar stand has a maple neck - sculpted from the side profile of my Alarez/Yari 12-string guitar, waterfall bubinga base and body cradle, with ebony caps, tuners and clasp with inlaid mother of pearl to match the guitar neck."

Second Place

Prize: $30 OakTree Gift Card

Artisan: Edward Ramsey
"This white oak jewelry armoire is a project created for a wedding anniversary. The bulk of the joinery is mortise and tenon hand cut and secured using dowels and glue. No screws were used in the construction of this project. The drawers have dovetail joints, hand cut as well. The shading is a natural variation as it came from the boards as bought. The dimensions are 60” x 36” x 16”, finished with a clear satin lacquer."

Third Place

Prize: $20 OakTree Gift Card

Artisan: John Hickman
"This is a cradle I made for my niece's baby. It could be an heirloom that would be passed down. I designed it in AutoCAD and made it out of rough cut maple I picked up from a local sawmill."

Honorable Mention

Prize: $10 OakTree Gift Card

Artisan: Mike Cooper
"On this cutting board the keys are made from maple and walnut. I used wenge for the veneer pieces between the keys. The veneer needed to be darker than the walnut so I ended up making the veneer from wenge. This project was a Christmas gift to a good friend who is a piano teacher."

Honorable Mention

Prize: $10 OakTree Gift Card

Artisan: Dale Boyer
"For my cherry and walnut business card holder the pieces were cut on the scroll saw and the knob turned on my Shopsmith lathe. I’ll be using this item to proudly display my cards at the Roanoke Farmers Market this summer. Plans for this project are by Robert Scharf, Santapogue Workshop, Long Island, NY, and are available for free, for private, non-commercial use only."
