Sundström SR 500/SR 570 Powered Air Purifying Respirator Kit

Whether you're turning bowls, sanding for extended periods, cutting MDF, or spraying finishes, the Sundström SR 500/570 PAPR delivers a constant supply of filtered air to protect you from harmful wood dust, silica, and airborne contaminants—all while eliminating the breathing resistance and fogging common with traditional respirators.

The SR 500 Fan Unit is a belt-mounted Powered Air-Purifying Respirator (PAPR) that connects to the SR 570 Face Shield. When used together, the SR 500 and 570 protect against particulates like saw dust and silica dust, as well as harmful odors and gasses (when used with the applicable chemical cartridges).

Instead of forcing you to pull air through a traditional respirator, the SR 500 continuously supplies filtered air to the face shield, making it easier to breathe while helping reduce heat buildup, visor fogging, and fatigue during long work sessions. The SR 500 can operate at two levels: normal (6.2 CFM) and boosted (7.9 CFM).

The SR 570 is a robust shield with a flip-up visor that provides comfortable and safe respiratory and eye protection. Well-balanced and lightweight, the head hardness offers several adjustment options for the best fit. The SR 570 features an air flow deflector for more comfort, as well as an exhalation valve that reduces the carbon dioxide content in the shield.

Two HE particle filters are included in this kit. These filters provide protection against all types of particulate pollutants and should be used with SR 221 pre-filters. As mentioned above, the particle filter can also easily be combined with Chemical Cartridges in order to provide protection also against gases and vapors, e.g. during spray painting.
