Osmo TopOil is a special oil and wax combination used as a treatment on wood kitchen countertops and general interior woodwork. It is made on a base of natural plant oils and waxes. The surface is protected against common household substances, such as wine, beer, soft drinks, coffee, tea, fruit juices, milk and water.

When dry, the finish is safe for humans, animals and plants and is suitable for children’s toys and resistant to perspiration and saliva. Oils like TopOil 3056 Clear Matte enhance the natural color of wood. Osmo TopOil is also food safe.

Osmo TopOil is ideal for the protection of furniture surfaces and work surfaces made of solid wood or edge glued panels (e.g. kitchen countertops, desks, shelving etc.) in indoor areas. Also suitable for cork and OSB.

Don't forget your brushes and cloths!

  • DIN and EN rated for direct contact with food
  • Ideal for countertops, tabletops, chopping boards, etc..
  • Very durable and hardwearing – water and chemical resistant
  • Resistant to common liquid spillages such as water, juice, tea, cola and wine
  • Saliva-resistant and sweatproof, suitable for children’s toys
  • Microporous, breathable finish which does not crack, peel or flake
  • No sanding necessary for spot repairs or future applications

Approx. coverage: 129 sq. ft. with one coat
Number of coats: 2 coats w/brush, 3-4 coats w/cloth
Application temp.: 41°F - 95°F (5°C to 35°C)
Approx. dry time: 8-10 hours*

*Lower temperatures and/or higher air humidity can increase the drying time. Ventilate well while drying.

By Hand with Cloth/Rag

Apply three thin coats with a lint-free cloth.

  • Scrub product into wood using cloth in a circular or figure 8 pattern
  • Allow roughly 15-minutes for oils to penetrate
  • Working with the grain, remove all excess product from surface
  • Allow 8-10 hours drying time before recoating 5. Apply second and third coats following previous steps

By Hand with Brush

Apply two thin coats with an Osmo Natural Bristle Brush or similar brush.

  • With a brush, work product into wood working in all directions, ensuring a thin application
  • Allow roughly 15-minutes for oils to penetrate
  • Working the brush with the grain, evenly distribute all product on surface and remove excess
  • There should be no visible high-build or film – if this is observed, product is over applied
  • Allow 8-10 hours drying time before recoating
  • Apply second coat following above procedure
  • Clean brushes using Osmo Brush Cleaner and Thinner or Turpentine

*Oiled surfaces should not be cleaned with a steam cleaner or steam mop as this degrades the performance of the finish.

REGULAR CLEANING - Kitchen work surfaces and table tops that have been treated with Osmo Top Oil can be cleaned with Osmo Wash and Care and a damp cloth, then wiped dry.

DEEP CLEANING - Stubborn marks and stains can be removed by using Osmo Liquid Wax Cleaner that both cleans and regenerates oiled surfaces

RENOVATION - Renovating, even partially, is easy. Just clean and re-treat worn areas with a thin coat of Osmo Top Oil – no sanding, no repair marks, no removal of previous Top Oil finish. No repair marks will be visible if applied thinly and appropriately.

FINISHING - If a deeper satin finish is required, the oiled surface can be polished with Osmo Liquid Wax Cleaner once the surface has fully dried.
